If you had to get either a MacBook Pro or iPad Pro, it`s not even close... GET THE MACBOOK PRO.
If you had to get either of those you should go for MacBook Air now ;) for 900$ and maybe in the future MacBook Pro
At my place MacBook aur m1 is more expensive than iPad pro 11 with cover and pencil, Plus my usage is entertainment and content watching, I disagree. Ps: I`ve used both for a short period of time only.
It`s MacOS vs iOS. If you need a terminal or write code, there`s only 1 choice. I have the latest MBP and the latest iPad 12.9 side by side daily because I make iPad apps. I never used an tablet often before but now I enjoy the iPad more with the Magic Keyboard.
Until the iPad Pros get either macOS or Pro Apps this will opinion will sadly stay. The Hardware on the 12.9" M1 Pro is outstanding especially with the miniLED display but it`s ruined by the lacking features of iPadOS. I hope they bring out Pro Apps to the iPad Pro soon-ish

For my use case, the iPad Pro fits the bill. I use it to complete web-based surveys for projects, as well as required photos. It has served me well. Nah son. iPad Pro for sure. Theres nothing that it generally cant do. Plus the obvious, mini LED, 120HZ, Face ID, Cellular connectivity, quality front facing cam, pen support, touch input, etc. And miss me with the ports, oh well buy a dongle. iPads superior really.
Unless you also use it for media consumption. I downloaded movies into my MBP to take on the airplane. No audio sharing and no full screen support. I missed the iPad Pro
I doubted this two years ago. Eventually, I went with the iPad Pro 12.9 2018. While I still love my iPad for taking notes and office 365 keeps improving on the iPads, I cant deny that sometimes working only on a iPad has it disadvantages , if I were to choose now : M1 MPP
The whole YouTube effect of praising the iPad Pro is unreal Ofc, Ill get the Mac - its a desktop macOS experience, the iPad is still the bigger iOS device for me

Unless youve completely switched your workflow to iPad Pro and will never go back because you love it so much. iPad will always be better in my book.
Correct, basically the iPad Pro is a smaller foot print for when its not smart to take your laptop, but as of now not anywhere close to the MacBook IMO.
As much as the tech community is freaking out on this, those who need a full scale laptop experience are going to get a Macbook. Those who has specific needs like sketching, streaming content etc who already have a laptop are going to get iPad. People are not so stupid!

Nah. Ive beeb an Apple fan for decades and fit the first time I dont want a MBP. The iPad Pro with touchscreen is much more useful. MBP has the a similar external / functional design since 2006. Sadly Apple is falling behind. Jobs innovation? I might never get a laptop again.

I bought the new iMac and iPad Pro for myself, and work are going to get me the new 16 when it eventually shows up. I need all bases covered.
Or you could do one better and get a Windows 2 in 1 and not waste crazy amounts of money on 2 overpriced Apple products.
If you need pro apps and need it for work reasons but if you use it for web browsing, media you might be better off with the iPad due to its superior screen, 120hz and better design
I need a MacBook Pro for work. But I also want an iPad Pro. I only need it for simple stuff, like drawing and gaming, so I dont think Ill dislike it, despite the reviews. My current iPad tends to heat up while gaming, so Id like to try the M1 for the cooling etc.

Not everyone is a content creator. My 2018 iPad Pro with a Logitech keyboard case works perfectly for my needs both at home and at work.
Totally depends upon what kind of a device you need. I do not need anything what an iPad cant do. So, why should I get a MacBook instead ? Also, I love playing all the App Store games. I can not do that on the MacBook can I?

You`re right. It`s not even close. Get anything BUT an Apple product. Cheaper, ore reliable, more easily configured the way you want it, less prone to spying on you.
Macbook Air M1 is far better than iPad pro, and what many wishwd the ipad pro to be, ligt, powergul and fanless! Unless you need the pencil for anything specific like sketching (which is the killer feature for ipads)
But wait for the redesign in October.

Really, because the MacBook Pro cannot do the things I need for my job. If I listened to you Id be in some serious trouble at work as my ability to do my job would seriously fall behind. Maybe you need to realize that the iPad has professional apps. LumaFusion is one example.
