What are your thoughts on solitaire? I`m talking classicJanuary 28, 2021, 1:18 am What are your thoughts on solitaire? I`m talking classic deck of cards, organizing stacks solitaire. I know there are hundreds of variations. But just in general, do you ever play them? Digital or analog? I go through times where I play everyday to not playing at all. Almost always digital and usually Spider Solitare. Kind of funny that you asked about solitaire because I had been looking up different types of solo card games with just a deck of cards Guess I have book to buy i play it. . I leave feeling lucky or unlucky, not cleaver. Almost always digital and a worthy thing to know. I have similar "meditative" feelings about Onirim, Orchard, and weirdly, Cards of Cthulhu (although CoC is more complex). Another one I like is Free Cell. Ostensibly, it always has a solution. It is your classic hedonic treadmill game. Like Splendor, it just rolls on by without any excitement but calms the soul. As you might expect, yeah not for me. Solitaire sux. Seconded, I`ve got ~500 wins in the shenzhen io solitaire game and I find myself doing more "just one more game..." with that than almost anything else Ive enjoyed classic Klondike for a while. I downloaded a solitaire app many years ago and it had so many varieties. I now only play their own variant called bakers game. Its fantastic. I enjoy it on rare occasion. I read somewhere a decade or so ago that there are shuffles that are impossible to win. They are rare of course but, because of that I don`t really play it to win. Just to pass time. I have physically played many of the games in this book that I have owned for over 20 years. Book worth acquiring. The Complete Book of Solitaire and Patience Games: The Most Comprehensive Book of Its Kind: Over 225 Games I do, both digitally and analog. I love the original Klondike with 3 card draw, but also love Yukon! I haven`t played classic in ages. makes fantastic puzzle/programming games and always includes a variant of solitaire. I recommend you checking out his games. I played the Shenzen I/O solitaire to death! I enjoy scorpion or spider now and then. Usually digital though. I play at Only digital. I prefer Spider and Scorpion. I play both. Not played w cards in a while because of phones but I find it relaxing. There is a very fun hobby version of solitaire called Puzzle Dungeon that I enjoy quite a bit. Let me know how it goes and what you think! Cleary there is a market for games like this, I`m just not in it. I grew up playing it and still play it digitally from time to time. My (adult) daughter plays it often, both digitally and with cards. Not really interested in it. Recently some friends showed me Nerts, a free digital game on Steam that is basically real-time multiplayer competitive solitaire. And while that didn`t do much for me, several friends have been real into it for the past week or so. Back when it was THE game that shipped with Windows, I played it a LOT. I was already familiar with the Klondike variant, having been taught it as a kid. I certainly haven`t played since I got into board games. There are better choices for me. I enjoy classic solitaire. It`s relaxing. But one could also say that I`ve gone... Beyond Solitaire. I play it sometimes, still, yep. I might even play tonight, now that you`ve reminded me. Mostly analog nowadays, but I used to play it on my ipad on flights |
