Amount of goals that come from defenders dealing w/ this and Rashford being released in the counter is worth it.The issue is that Shaw is far more powerful defensively than Telles meaning our defensive shape got pulled out there in this instance and Rashford caught in 2 minds

Defend as a team is the main issue here. I struggle to understand how we always look so open when we have 2 defensive midfielders playing. Martial and Rashford rarely defend with any effort and Bruno chases everything possible leaving gaps in the middle.
Asides his finishing ability and pace, Rashford is simply average. He never presses when the team is under attack like Mane, Sterling, or Salah.

I will say tactically it seems more often than not we prefer to defend a bit narrower and let wide enough players run through, good example of this was the Liverpool game where Rashy for example would not track back much as that would allow for a quick counter. This not good tho
