Sony`s QX100 and QX10 “lens-style cameras”; Android and iOS compatible!September 4, 2013, 3:13 pm Sony`s QX100 and QX10 are basically "lenses". They are not your everyday run-of-the-mill lenses though. For the first time, what we have here is a lens which basically has the guts of a decent camera, but don`t have its own viewfinder. Instead you pair it with your smartphone! Using your Android or iOS phone and a Sony camera app on it you line up your shots and control the shutter and other settings. The new lenses will connect to your phone using WiFi and NFC, so they dont actually have to be clipped to the phone to work; you can hold the lens in one hand and your phone in the other! The QX100 is the highe-end model and comes with an RX100MII sensor and F1.8 Carl Zeiss lens, manual controls and a 3.6x optical zoom and a 20MP 1³ Exmor R CMOS sensor. The QX10, a much more affordable model has a 10x zoom lens and 18MP, 1/2.3 inch Exmor R CMOS sensor. Sonys lens cameras are a totally new idea and could be an alternative to buying an Android powered camera so you can instantly upload your photos straight to Facebook, or edit them on the spot. Sony`s QX10 and QX100 are expected to ship September 27th, and theyre available for pre-order for $248 and $498, respectively. |
