So on stream I mentioned that I`ll only be playing the remake of FF7 when I get to it. A few people got upset about it and it kinda bothered me a bit. I know people want me to play the original and then the remake after but I`d rather just play the remake only.

The OG FF7 is very over hyped due to people`s nostalgia, which I understand. But people have to understand you`re the streamer, and its your choice what you put your time and effort into.
You`re good to just play the remake, the reason why other people want you to play the original would be a bit of a spoiler to the compilation of FF7! But if you wanna know about the extended lore, you can always research it later!
It`s just video games, play what you want when you want.
Oh by no means is the original necessary to enjoy the remake, like I said if anything it just enhances it, but the remake is great in its own right, and like the other guy said who cares what others say, its yours and your choice alone
Honestly I would say skip the remake only on the principle that you are playing the old ones already so it would be same type of graphics and battle system. Unless you want that mix up of things. That would be my only suggestion.
I am assuming people just worded there concern wrong when probably they worried cause its not a real FF story atm but just a chapter of one and I didn`t want to assume the goal was to experience all the games stories as I haven`t been able to catch the streams myself.
Ok so to be absolutely fair the OG 7..... Isn`t actually anywhere near as good as people hype it up to be. Almost all of it is just people`s nostalgia talking and a collective misremembering of the actual canon. It`s still an alright game just full of jank and nonsense
I can get why people would be bothered as I could honestly see it taking many more years before the game is in full release and as it stands the remake is incredible short with barely covering 30% of the actual story.
just imo, right now the remake isn`t even a finished game, it`s a very small part of it, but you do you.
It`s your choice! I`ve heard they`re different, but I don`t know how much so. The main story beats should remain similar - it`s hard to change certain things too much without it becoming a different plot entirely. (only played the OG thus far, here)
I mean I could easily play the original but I`d rather play the remake and I don`t think there is anything wrong with that. You do what makes you happy, that is the most important thing <3.
You are the one that has to have fun Jesse, don`t let others decide for you what to play just because they played it during their childhood.
It sounds like the nostalgia goggles are strong, sorry to hear that. I`m sure the original`s good, but do you, and play that remake if you want to hit that first. It looks like a blast!
You`re fine, Jesse. In the end, you play what you wanna play. It wouldn`t do well to force yourself to play something you`re not feeling since it would dull the overall experience.
There is a specific reason people are wanting you to do that, honestly if you are okay with knowing the story of 7 before playing the remake, I would do that rather than play it. It may sound odd, but it would in general enhance your remake play through
In the end though, it`s your choice, it`s your stream, it`s on your time, and ultimately, it`s your experience. They can pound sand if they don`t like it.
I can relate to this so hard, I never got into FF untill iIplayed 14, so I thought about trying 7 out, but I also only want to do the remake. the shame hardcore fans give for that choice is not fun
there`s a lot of charm the original VII has that is lost in the remake but honestly? that isn`t something newer players pick up on in 2021. There are parts of old style RPGs that are infuriating to play and only nostalgia goggles really deal with that.
It`s unlikely I`ll change my mind since I genuinely don`t want to have to go through the original just to play the Remake right after but I can understand why people would be bothered by it. Just wanted to get that out there cause it was kinda bugging me after stream.
