So podcast app removed "subscribe" option because apparently some huge percentage of potential podcast listeners wouldn`t click it because they thought it cost money. Stupid - but fine. Not fine? Phone now drains by 6 pm and the podcast app uses 60% of my battery!?!?
I use BeyondPod. Works great. Not sure if there is an iOS version.
I quit using the Apple podcast app ages ago. I use Overcast and rarely have any trouble with it.
I was wondering what happened to the subscribe feature! Now it seems like, if you play one episode of a podcast, it automatically subscribes you? Thanks, I hate it.
I ditched the Apple podcast app years ago. Never worked or synced correctly. Tried downcast and have never looked back. (Occassional crash but generally very stable)..

My plan is to just use the phone (as normally as possible) to see if the battery goes back to normal. Since I wasn`t even using the app during my workday I`m very, very suspicious that something was deeply broken in this latest update.
To confirm this is the podcast app causing the issue I`ve now deleted it from my phone. A podcaster for 10+ years and I`m deleting the Podcast app because it appears to be ruining my battery life. I`ll update after I run my experiment tomorrow.
