should iJanuary 27, 2021, 4:40 pm should i.... get an iPad or a cheaper tablet *lisa Simpson voice* Just buy it! You dont have to rationalize everything. What do you want to do with the tablet? Graphical art? Music? Something to just be casual with in the home? As a self confessed apple hater I suggest you get an iPad. It`s the best tablet, no way around it lol. I have an aging 6th gen one, it was the first "cheap" one to support the pencil and it`s great. Honestly, as expensive as it is there really isn`t much competition in the category at this point. For what you want to do I`d heavily advise a Pencil as well. That narrows you down to the current version of the iPad Air or the Pro. The Air is amazing value for the price. I got the iPad eighth gen for 300! I love it. Good size. Its only 32gb so if you want something with more storage you would need to pay a bit more. My work involves a lot of testing of various tablets, and honestly, the iPads are far above their competitors in many regards, especially if we are talking about using it for art. Android tablets do have a lot more customisation, but I find less pleasing to use. Hi Ian. Can I ask you something please???? Ok, then you definitely need one that supports the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil 2 is far superior to the 1, so that narrows your options to the latest iPad Air (2020) or one of the iPad Pros (2018 or 2020). Depends on how much you wanna spend then Get an iPad, you can do so much with your creative mind! I have an iPad Pro currently and love it! I got the new iPad Air 4 a few months ago and its great! It has most features of the pro with a significantly lower price than the pro. If you have an iPhone then get an iPad... you can connect both to your Apple account and share apps and data easier Oh gods, I had this conversation yesterday. Lol. Same. Same. Have you checked out the Apple refurbished online store? They have iPads that a few $100 less than the new price and they`re fully refurbished and certified by Apple. I got a new iPad Air for drawing/small business purposes and its really really great if you already have a MacBook. You can dual screen and airdrop things and it makes it super easy if youre already all set up with Apple products. At the end of the day you are a creative and the purchase is for work purposes just as much as it is a personal need, go with the iPad, you have earned and continue to earn it :) iPad for sure. Other tablets just not being supported or optimised enough for the screen size in OS like Android which is a shame. Im not a fan of Windows so those tablets wont get a recommendation from me either. People say theyre overpriced but iPads are apples best in terms of longevity, I have a 2011 iPad that still runs pretty good. If u can spend the extra $$ Id say go for it Get last year`s iPad Pro. Android tablets aren`t worth the money - and I say that as someone who owns a Pixel phone. It`s also possible to save a little money by claiming an educational discount, which you can do even if you aren`t currently in school. Takes about $100 USD off. What do you need it for, say 80% of the time? Get an iPad. Theyre reliable and have a decent lifespan. i always feel like i need to heavily justify my purchases and also make back every dollar i spent... im wanting the best iPad i can get, but my brain is screaming thinking of spending that much on tech You could go with the cheaper iPad Air. I have pretty happy with mine, it does not have faceID, but it have touchID. I dont think i would go with a even cheaper tablet, as that would just anoy me. With this iPad Air, it still got a lot of performance for the price. i use mine for art primarily but i looove my ipad! airdrop and cloud syncing makes it so easy to access reference images Unless you have everything Apple, where you can use stuff like airdrop, go with a good android tablet. My money would be to get an Android. iPad would be better for work Ive been thinking of getting an ipad that can do sidecar so I can use it as a second screen for my macbook, but maybe one thats used and a bit cheaper Refurbished iPad. If from a trusted outlet then they are almost as good as new. Cheaper but also good for the environment as youre saving picking up a brand new one I dont know who your side of the pond would be good - maybe others would have thoughts? ipads tbh are really nice - i would recommend not getting a pro if you want something with a longer battery life! iPad. And you get a free year of + some good movies and show on it. Plus, its just a great machine. honestly, fire tablets 10" and upper range ones are decent and if you put google play on, you`ve got an android tablet at a decent price point If you`re already using Apple tech, sick with it for ease of data transfer Otherwise, I`d recommend Android. iPad Pro because of its many features. if its for money reasons i say get the ipad but an old version Depends on what you want to do. I picked up a nice Samsung one a while back that my child uses for school work etc. Works fine, great battery life, works with everything they need, plus expandable storage. But for some, the iPad has more for what they need, app wise. If you`re doing art, an iPad Pro is literally amazing and I can`t go back. If not art then imo still an iPad of some sort. ive been really needing one for work & also with my laptop being repaired still im really struggling with so much... i need an extra screen and it doesnt NEED to be apple but would make things a lot easier to airdrop and stuff |
