Sharks to tweet their presence near Australian beaches, with innovative Aussie program

Swimmers in Australia are always a little bit concerned regarding sharks. Indeed, there are quite a lot of shark attacks on Australian beaches that you can`t really relax carefree when swimming down under...A new innovative program though will have sharks tweeting their arrival to Australian beaches.
The new program has tagged almost 320 sharks with special transmitters that will report their location, sending out warnings when the sharks go close to popular beaches.
In the last two years alone, there have been six deaths associated with shark attacks off Aussie beaches, forcing authorities to take serious action preventing more lives lost to same causes.Even though boats and helicopters have been used for years, technology of today allows the use of more high-tech means to protect swimmers.
Interestingly the Australian system uses transmitters to send signals to a computer when a shark approaches more than a thousand meters from the shore, turning the signal into a tweet on the Surf Life Saving Western Australia€™s (@SLSWA) Twitter feed.
So in effect, the scary sharks, are well, tweeting!
