It pretty much started with the iPod & ipod touch . Those products actually revolutionized the music industry .So it only Made sense from a business standpoint to make the iPhone. Apple has fallen behind though .Every year it`s the same rehashed design in three or four sizes .
Other (better) options just aren`t marketed as well. One thing Apple does extremely well is advertising. Ironically, Google, the ad seller, isn`t as good at that even though their products are often better and are always a better value.
Because it`s an American product and the American Market is one of the largest markets But they`ve actually done a great job by hyping the Apple logo up Here in Egypt I find a lot of people spending about 300-350$ in 2021 to afford a Second-hand iPhone of the 7 series! So weird

Their way of acting like they`re the only smartphone maker for the US Market. Even when they were showing the image of the ugly as Android to promote their FaceTime upgrades, they chose to have a device that does not look better than theirs, which pulls some people to them imo

The first iPhone to have three things in one... phone, Internet, and music player all in one. Later on, the app store took it to the next level and marketing.

iPhone released June 2007 HTC Dream Released September 2008 iPhone had 10 months lead on release and it had Steve Jobs selling it. I know I had to have one when I saw it. They have maintained simple to use, well made devices that barely need an instruction manual to use.
They know what the average consumer will want better than any other company. And their marketing and strategies are great at keeping people in the ecosystem. Doesn`t apply to me but I respect what they do.
Advertising, Apple stores everywhere, customer service, great overall customer satisfaction. Thats how it is maintained. It kicked off from the launch of the original iPhone.
