Phablets rule in South Korea; 41 per cent of South Korean smartphones are phablets!

The "phablet" (a word which is made from "phone" and "tablet") is a South Korean invention. Samsung changed the smartphone world with the introduction and the unlikely success of its revolutionary Galaxy Note. Today almost every phone maker has at least a "phablet" in its arsenal. The phablet "craze" though, is larger than anywhere in its Homeland South Korea.
Flurry, a mobile app analyst company, has released data according to which, a massive 41 percent of all handheld connected devices in South Korea are phablets, with a screen ranging from 5-inches to 7-inches. Interestingly the gap between those phablet numbers and medium-sized phones, is just 13 percent.
While in South Korea phablets rule, the rest of the world has quite a catch up to do. A mere 7 percent, on average, of all connected devices, worldwide are phablets.
This of course doesn`t stop smartphone manufacturers investing heavily in phablet models and we have certainly see a notable shift in customer-choice towards bigger screens and devices compared to the last few years.
Actually, we believe that if Apple finally releases a bigger screen iPhone the boundaries will fall and millions of people worldwide will choose bigger-than-5-inches smartphones.
