Oppo shows new R1 smartphone available late DecemberDecember 4, 2013, 5:59 pm Oppo has now officially announced its new R1 smartphone, planned for late December release. The company used a short post on Chinese social network Sina Weibo to unveil the device and also mentioned there that the gadget`s camera will be able to take beautiful shots at night (probably featuring a f/2.0 aperture). The company released photos show two versions; a black and a white model that look quite similar to the design of the iPhone 4. Even though Oppo hasn`t officially given the specs of the new handset yet, information about that is available thanks to TENNA`s (the Chinese regulator) site.According to leaked info based on TENNA`s site, the smartphone features a 5-inch display with a 960 by 540-pixel resolution, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and an 8-megapixel rear shooter accompanied by a 5-megapixel front camera . The smartphone runs on Android, of course, probably with a layer of Oppo`s own Color UI over it. No information on pricing was given by Oppo at this time, but this is clearly a lower-priced smartphone, compared to the company`s recently released N1 flagship which will retail for $599 in the United States where it will become available next week, contract-free. |
