Might be a stupid question, but when Schiff and Swalwell had their records seized by Apple at the suggestion of Barr and Sessions, did the Congressmen know at the time? Are they just finding out?

Just finding out. This started back in 2015 and the gag order was renewed until just recently.
What I read is that they were recently told by Apple. I would like to know why Apple complied with this obviously illegal request.
Correct. They did not know. I want to know if this same kind of data could be seized with Android phones since the operating system and phone manufacturer are different. Is Apple the weak link here?
No they did not know, Apple was under a gag order.
I just read one of the articles stating that Schiff was informed via e-mail from Apple, but I`m not sure what time-frame that was. Article also stated that several of those affected ignored the e-mail as spam.
I believe they just found out somewhere around a month ago
