These are the mobile languages and frameworks you should know of right now. + who to follow in that space. Another awesome cross platform option with Code in C and XAML, build pixel perfect apps across Windows, Android, iOS, Linux, macOS and web Thanks so much Joel! While I appreciate the shoutout, I am probably not the right person to be tagging in an engagement-bait thread right now. Which unfortunately is what this is. I think you can do better, Joel. Thank you for mentioning me in this list Thank you for including me!! This is part of my 10-week content drop on becoming a self-taught developer and landing a job. If what you have read has been useful and you think it could benefit others, please give it a share! I apologise if I have missed your favourite language or framework. It would be useful to others if you could share it below! Thanks for reading @chiuki I am a Xamarin developer, but I don`t focus my content on this subject, these are the people to follow: - If you are into Xamarin and aren`t following James, what are you doing? - Part of the .NET MAUI team at Microsoft and huge in the community @chiuki Whos who of the Flutter world: - Has some of the best content I have seen for Flutter, he`s a definite follow if Flutter is for you. - Same with Tadas! Offering Twitter, YouTube and written content in the Flutter space! @chiuki iOS developers in the know: - I discovered Enid whilst making this post, clearly a strong flag flyer for iOS, and a great presence in the community. - Offers fantastic courses on Udemy. Having done her iOS course myself, I highly recommend it. @chiuki iOS is the operating system created by Apple for iPhones. Apples focus, like all their products is on a closed system, where design and quality are the most important aspects. @chiuki iOS/Swift/Objective-C iOS holds the remaining 30% of the smartphone market share. The two languages used to build for iOS are Objective-C & Swift. Who to follow for all things Android/Java/Kotlin: - A big presence in the Android space, from speaking at conferences to Pluralsight courses. - Zach has a great presence in the mobile community, check him out! Developed by Google, Android`s focus is on being open and accessible to everyone. Offering a lot of freedom for developers but comes with quality issues on what is available on the app store, as well as offering more chances to exploit devices. Java is the older of the two, having been around for over 20 years. Don`t think that makes it antiquated. Java is still a powerful, popular language, whose age means there are a large variety of resources available to help developers. Android/Java/Kotlin Android has over 70% of the smartphone market share and has held this for years. The two languages used to build for Android are Java & Kotlin. Let`s get the main platforms and languages out of the way first... Android = Java/Kotlin & iOS = Swift/Objective C |
