I wonder what you use as your note-taking app
I wonder what you use as your note-taking app. Lets share some pro tips.

Thank you! That`s really quite expensive. You really need to be "heavy" user to be ready pay such money.

The platform is just the tool. Note-taking is the artform. Glad to be connected with some fellow note-takers!

I have been trying apps/tools for this purpose for a while now. At the moment I use Notion for my personal wiki (think images and links) and Foam for daily notes and Zettelkasten. That is FOAM with "F", not Roam. It is a truly amazing vscode meta-extension .

Yeah...I have been hearing a lot about Roam and Notion. I am just so entrenched in Evernote. And it works for me. I would need some real good reasons to make a switch.

Yes, it`s good to pay much for product you love and use. But how much are they per month? I can see that myself, but would be glad if you write here)

Rarely. Sometimes, I take a photo to send to someone else and that`s It. My plannings are short. One thing that I learned over time is to break the tasks and finish them ASAP. I like the ideia of "The One Thing". It increases productivity.

No...just my folder structure and search.

@mcgillmd921 FTR: answered here -> I don`t use tags that much. I set up a folder structure that helps me know where everything is. Between that and search I can easily find my notes.

My bad...I misread what Jan said. I thought he was referencing Evernote. I use a little for work because it integrates w/ Office. But I prefer Evernote.

Mostly my phone notes since I can do it on the go. Are you building something?

Of course, beside the awesome integration into the whole tasks eco system (tags), it`s just the casual stuff: - Sticky notes - Version history - Password protection - Templating - All the education features (math assist, class notebooks, etc.) - Great hand- and pen-writing

It does! I use it for personal tasks though. Work stuff goes in Jira

I like how fast it loads up, and syncs to my devices. I haven`t used Notion, but might look into it.

I use keep for quick and small notes, Notion for longer notes and i have a kanban board with tasks =) I don`t really move stuff around no

No, it`s a mess, but I don`t really use it for anything important anyway. My to-dos are in Todoist, my work tasks are in Trello.

What is bidirectional linking?

Good old pen and paper

Notion/Google keep

Love Notion for organisation and tracking, but writing (especially editing) long form text is a hot mess. I use the excellent for that (or just my code editor for shorter stuff)

Been using OneNote for years, it serves me well :)

on mobile ! on my laptop : Vim with ZettleKasten method I have been using Evernote for over a decade. My brain literally lives in Evernote.

Well I use 2 different apps, for personal things I use google keep i think is simple and it has the necessary things, but for things of work that i need more usability I use Trello, even the free version is great so idk.

Of course Have tried all others but for me nothing comes near the functionality and flexibility!

I never used the phone for anything like posting or notes...except for the grocery list maybe

For just taking (draft) notes I use a reMarkable. It syncs to all my devices and its OCR is ok-ish. For storing my well-formulated ideas/thoughts, I`m currently developing my own software, All other platforms I investigated, don`t really support long-lasting notes

I`m a troglodyte and I use the built-in notes apps on my Macbook and Android, which are in no way connected with one another.

Tried Notion a bit but its slow and I tried evernote years ago but found the free version limited. As long as there is a good search feature and a way to categorize notes Im fine

Nope, I carry a notebook keep an index in inside. Kind of like bullet journalling. It comes from my military time. We were encouraged to keep "Smart Books" where you put all info you need to remember.

It is however you want. A simple word document, an excel like sheet, or Customer Management System. It depends how you want to use. I use it mainly for product documentation.

Links between notes is the one feature of Roam which I can`t see Notion ever catching up on Roam - evergreen notes where I know I`m going to be parsing topics atomically (normally from my lit notes) & linking between them Notion - anything not requiring links (lit notes etc.)

Google Keep. I`m a simple man.

That`s exactly why I like Notion so much. The UI just makes your notes feel so much more organised. I know Roam is trendy and everyone says you can do everything through Roam only. I tried that for a long time, but I just wasn`t as productive that way.

You should check It has been the best so far.

is my goto

I`m trying to move to notion 100% now I wanted to try roam but the price is just too expensive for me. so notion it is.

Notion for saving posts, sublime text for taking notes

Mostly Evernote, pen and paper or the built in notepad on my phone. Tried Notion, but didnt like it that much. For content ideas, I often just spin up a draft post in WordPress for the notes.

Old school pen and paper.

I use the default iOS notes app. Its quick and responsive and it will be shared automatically with my MacBook.

I use both Notion and Roam - Notion for tracking my `content consumption calendar` and making literature notes Roam for permanent/evergreen notes on concepts gleamed from my lit notes and journalling I tried Roam for everything but it just didn`t work for me

That would be great. I have not heard of Roam so need to look into this.

I used all of them, starting with Evernote, then Notion, and finally Roam. Roam is unique in many ways. Especially the bidirectional linking got me hooked. You can expect a YouTube video about this from me soon.
