I really love how @evernote tells me I needJuly 25, 2021, 6:11 pm I really love how tells me I need to download a new verison every 2 days, gets slower, adds a feature that is terrible, and then offers me a message that "We have a new set of paid plans available" Coolcoolcool, because that`s what I`m into, not just a note app. Yep. Exactly. And I`m looking forward to the early adopters` reports ;-) is fantastic if you need a proper note-only app. What do you mean? Both of them have apps for Android, Linux, Windows, macOS and iOS. Joplin has an Android app you know you want it At least theyre not filling it with ads. Amen. Spent years falling in love with note taking systems and then abandoning them when they become so complicated that its too hard to take notes. Almost settled on Apple Notes, then found Obsidian. Shockingly plain. Literally plain text. Im am whole. But no app yet Hate how slow has become. Constantly getting slower. Had to change phone to get full use back!! I use Joplin with NextCloud, and sync it across all my devices and phone. Love it! Im in the same boat. Everyone keeps raving about but after being burnt by Im really afraid of jumping to any other VC-funded app. Dropbox Paper doesn`t seem too bad either if you are already using Dropbox. I love Notion, but I`m not sure it solves any of your problems :P Lol. Build your own cloud. That`s ridiculous, who would do that... Google keep <3 Been migrating my research for lighting projects into but find that keeping notes in two silos is hard. Also, grabs stuff from other apps easily. Argh. Amen. I havent had a build in months where there wasnt a significant bug or the UI is dreadfully delayed in showing note changes. No easy way to log bugs. But Ive got 10+ years of notes and structure in it. The problem for all utility software companies is they feel they have to keep adding new features to justify their existence and their growing dev team. They don`t. Sometimes it`s better to stop fiddling with what`s already good and just maintain it. Try Joplin, it synchronizes over multiple 3rd party services or Simple Note. The later one is really simple, but do the job. I had to stop using because of a terrible bug where it crashed repeatedly and corrupted a bunch of my notebooks that were full of handwritten notes. Still was doing it last I checked a couple weeks ago Stopped using Evernote after they restricted the number of devices that it could be installed on. Used the Microsoft OneNote importer app and deleted Evernote from all devices. I was so pissed about the rewrite that I moved 30k notes over to Obsidian. Companies that solely rely on profits generated by paid users of freemium apps will inevitably break your heart. The only free apps I trust are from companies that have other profit centers. Have you tried OneNote? Decent cross-platform support and a good balance of features. Moved to Notion after years of paying Evernote Have you tried ? Ive ditched Evernote ages ago because it didnt seem to be evolving. Notion is awesome! I imported everything to the apple notes app that syncs with icloud, but that probably doesnt help you. Yeah try the import to Notion feature Oh man I gave them up like 6 years ago for precisely the same reasons! @evernote inb4 their team reaches out with, "We`d love to hear how we can improve things": Simplify everything. Make it faster. I need a networked notes app. And I`m currently considering OneNote as a replacement. Yep, it`s gotten that bad (yeah yeah, I know a lot of people love OneNote) The just a note app is one of the paid plans. |
