I`m in the Washington Post today - quoted in a story on their home! (It`s about how I fell for an App Store scam and paid $19 for a remote control app. Someone on HN has already suggested I "barely have the skills of my grandma", so that`s fun)

Card Blurry Confectioneries has just regained hope of increased 2021 sales

Grrr. I would 1) get the receipt number for the app from that support sign in page 2) go to the messages app and contact Apple 3) tell them it was nearly impossible to find how to request a refund and youd like to request they waive the timeframe 1-time for you for this $19 app.

Please consider trying to get your money back. There are plenty of places you could donate it to, will feel good and it will amplify the scamminess. Is that a word? Ive never been denied a refund btw. Only done it a few times but 100% success rate. Btw did you request your $19 from the AppStore? cuz you absolutely can (and should) or do I need to read the article to find out how this ends?

I bought my dad a Wyze watch recently and after he failed to set it up I pinged friends at Wyze who helped him. They later told me he installed the Wyz iOS app not the Wyze app. Felt bad for wasting the Wyze teams time (and that they are in this situation.)

Im hiring for developer relations anyone know if that persons grandma is available? She must be awesome.

Youll also find load of fake whats apps and the like looking to get your credentials

Play Store seems to be better curated, or at least Google has more search and anti-fraud experience, which is easier to scale than manual reviews. they must have a helluva grandma.

If I had to describe you, technically illiterate is not at the top of my list.

no shame in falling for a scam like that, companies create a scam-friendly environment and scammers think about how to trick you 24/7 whereas we dont assume were being tricked 24/7. they have a predators advantage

I hadn`t realized how untrustworthy App Store apps had become, so when I searched for "Smart Things" (the official Samsung app is SmartThings) and it cost $19/year I assumed Samsung were nickel-and-diming their users, rather than assuming the App Store review process was useless
