I just wanted to say that I`ve been workingSeptember 18, 2021, 8:37 pm I just wanted to say that I`ve been working for 3 years on several real-time desktop applications in C++. Not everything is front-end web development. As someone who spent years building games & desktop apps in C & C++ (also C & Java), I agree. But today before reaching for C++ & Qt w/o a strong reason, I`ll use Dart & Flutter to build fast apps that can run on desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux), mobile (iOS, Android) and web. The first 7 minutes seem especially dedicated to these `front-enders` you mentioned. Just tell them to watch it completely. Some brains will explote when they discover something `new` about the meaning of an IO device Shhhhhhh. Twitter is for front end only Yep, I`m also just started working on a project using C++ and Qt, a simple text-editor, just have to fix a huge bug(The app isn`t functional right now until i fix that bug). I`m working in the surgical simulation space. As is the case in most games/simulation software our in-house built physics engine is entirely in C++ and still evolving, we only use Lua for the high level scripting of the logic. C++ is the king when performance is required. Thats because web coding is for script kiddies and C++ is for the elite High Five! Worked in C/C++ systems domain. Focused on Operating systems. Interestingly I too notice a lot of web dev tweets on my timeline. TECH TWITTER, will make you feel like Software Engineer is Web Development Those are just Linux kernel patches that make the system more real-time compliant. Have you tried Xenomai or RTAI? I worked on the former for radar systems. It is quite a cool application. The tweet the world needs! `Bubble factor` is always there. I`m surrounded of backend and backbackend (embedded) developers. I don`t think they believe everything is backend ... Not a big fan of front and back differentation. As is said in your tweets, there`re tons of things we all have in common Finally I dont feel alone now desktop win32 apps full time with no sign of web. Sometimes feel like Im getting left behind Does somebody out there really thing that? In my case I only wrote things related with web and its front-end when I had to create my some customized Prestashop modules for a web shop I had then in mind. CCS, Javascript and PHP stuff Interesting, why visual studio? What do you recommend for Linux users? Not frontend neither web development at all C++ is all time hit. Nothing attempts to compete with it. What are the tools u use? |
