I feel like this tweet pops up once a week. It`s just not true. If Apple cut off review units because of "someone being honest" it would be a WAY worse PR storm than some negative comments about their product. Imagine how many views a video called "Apple cut me off" would get.

Andy Bad take Manganelli back at it again.

Well they cut off giving Lew review devices after the whole bend thing na

Lol Im blocked by gadgets

Seems like people who criticize their products a lot aren`t on good terms with them and the ones who over look most of the bad are good

That is a tweet comes from someone that doesn`t understand marketing basic and just say the first thing that comes into their mind. This proves that Apple`s marketing & pr strategy is so good, it triggers people like him

Coughs, and cough.

Someone like Linus, Lew or Zack don`t get anything. The common theme is all of them are primarily Android users. I remember saying he never got an invitation from apple. But soon after he said he`s shifting to iPhone, he did get an invite (he posted somewhere).

Feel like the issue is that Apple wont even consider sending a review unit to someone who might even consider saying something negative. Apple doesnt need to worry about cutting people off if they work with people they dont need to cut off.

Not saying I`ve experienced this, but something tells me if you shit on Apple for their blatant lies in marketing or extended warranty programs. You`re probably not getting early samples.

Try being really really really honest. Try addressing Apple`s stupendous hypocrisy as they talk about their `green` initiatives while obstructing repairs for broken devices and destroying working devices as a matter of routine. As long as you honestly love Apple it`s fine :p

They wouldn`t dare that would be like a dictatorship in the tech industry

Yeah no.. With half of `tech YouTube` being apple ONLY channels.. NOTHING would happen even if apple did something. Just ask how they REFUSED his imac pro repair (paid). Few vids and everyone forgot about it. They being the largest tech channel are also cut off from

Honesty in reviews isn`t the problem, Companies know their product faults. It`s the unnecessary snark, and digs that keep a company from working with media/creators again. not viewed in a silo, rather up to c-suite. And review units are scarce so if you`re not 1A, not personal

Yeah cuz they didn`t threaten Ellen degeneres. After she made comedy skit about iphone ..... That never happen

Apple doesnt like scammers, surprise.

I`m sure would say it is true

What about Lew?? He was banned for making a video about iPhones bending

It reminds me of your video (your=MKBHD team) about Right to Repair. The video mainly criticizes Apple (obviously) and yet you knew it wouldn`t hurt the channel.

I totally agree with you. has ALWAYS kept it real, good and bad. Never maliciously but always in the spirit of pushing tech further.

The problem with unbox therapy was after his iPhone bendgate video people started damaging demo units at Apple store.

I dont think Linus gets review units from them

Agreed. Never had a bad experience and weve said plenty Im sure Apple arent thrilled about.

Congratulations to the newly married couple.

What about you? Got any comments?

Sometimes questions that companies wont answer are the most important questions to be asked, that an audience wants answered And the non-answer/refusal to answer can be particularly noteworthy in itself

Fair enough

If you look at the amount of reviewers who have been cut off, or pushed back by them, the evidence would point to it being true. Not like other companies don`t either. But please don`t act like there`s no truth to this at all.

i seriously feel like they cutoff any reviewers from early access if the reviewer is too critical

sir has been cut off by brands for being too honest with his reviews

Wait! Am I the only one who remembers apple cutting off after iphone6 bandgate? We have a example here

Hmmm this is particularly interesting, perhaps honesty in pointing out flaws (when present) is not the problem but when you do things with their products that they dont find righteous they do have a tendency to cut relationships off, just ask the folks at I mean is blacklisted from Apple apparently.

@Artie_Vandelay So obviously asking something that won`t get answered is pointless. Or them not answering a question doesn`t make a final cut. We`ve scheduled interviews and then cancelled them because we decided the answers they would give weren`t interesting.

Thanks for replying. Enjoy that wedding! :-)

fwiw I feel like they are the least pushy about anything compared to a ton of companies out there

Agreed. Theres an art to criticism, both in reviews and life. Apple is no different from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, *insert any other major company* in this regard. Companies want to make profit. Regardless if youre in or out on PR lists, integrity reigns supreme over all.

After addressing my concerns about the butterfly keyboard MacBook Pros from 2016-2019 NON STOP it was cool to then be invited to the 2019 MB Pro (better cooling + magic keyboard) briefing and someone there being like YOU are going to enjoy this one kinda tongue and cheek

Yeah people don`t understand avoiding controversy is much better than implementing damage control

I suppose that`s true, though if you look at the interviews Apple has been doing with many YouTubers lately, some way smaller than Snazzy, all of the questions asked are inherently positive. Part of that is just the excitement of getting an interview with such an important 1/x

Not sure if I agree with you. Look at Snazzy Labs for example, he is more critical of Apple than most people and doesn`t get review units either. I`m not saying you guys at MKBHD are not being honest, but the bad parts are usually summed up as "it`s still an iPhone".

Unboxtheraby has complained a lot because he was cut off
