Hello
Hello to all my new followers from iOSDevHappyHour Lets get to know each other! Where are you in your iOS journey? What blockers are in your way for getting further?

Hi Im Christopher, Like many others on here I am struggling to find employment. I am 5 years into my iOS development journey and my main focus has been learning as much as I can. I love building out UIs and I am now learning how to use aws to build my own backend solutions.

Hi Mikaela, thanks for speaking yesterday. Ive been doing iOS development for 5 years. Im working on writing cleaner, more readable code & branching out into other tech like react native.

Hi Mikaela, thanks for speaking yesterday! Im two years into being a part time indie app developer, part time stay at home dad, after about 10 years as professional software engineer doing non iOS stuff. Nice to Twitter-meet you!

Hi from Iran , a junior developer and student with one year of work experience looking for a job outside my country, but yeah, its a little bit high flying because I live in Iran, so I still should work hard.

Hey Mikaela, congrats and thank you for your story. I`m an indie iOS dev, worked at two companies with 2 years experience. Biggest obstacle is employers underestimating me and a lot of hiring freezes right now, so it`s bleak.

Hi there! Im currently looking for a developer role, and Im struggling with getting responses from companies. Ive been working on development for 4 years now. I feel like the interview process to be very daunting. I feel like lack of real world experience is making it harder.

Yeah, I think thats the only possible way to make it through, but its an odd thing nonetheless. I have no insight into the complicated world of business, but it seems theyd want to require exactly whats needed and hopefully pay less for a sufficient person for the job

I think a huge barrier for new developers is that every single entry level/junior iOS developer position requires at least 2+ years of working experience.

Thank you! That is exactly what I have been doing :) currently watching on swiftly speaking and getting a lot from it.

Good Afternoon! I started with SwiftUI about a year ago and still in the process of learning while building out apps to show my knowledge. Trying to get more involved with the IOS dev community! It has been difficult coming from Healthcare to an IOS dev position.

Ive done it, but not much anymore. I think doing it in personal projects is great when youre learning the skill. It allows you to experiment more without much time constraints. After that phase, Id say only do it when you see the need for a critical piece of logic.

Agreed, there are tons of podcasts about app development for iOS. You can use it as a background instead of things like watching news etc. There are too many aspects of iOS that need to be made aware of as early as possible

Sounds like a great idea!

Quite valid. My IOS is going to be fun! I wish I could start right now. Too much on my cake plate right now hahah

I am currently in just vanilla JS, HTML, and CSS. Im working on some websites so I can master the basics and go on from there. Any suggestions on webstacks?

I have done a bit of research into Vapor on a Udemy course I purchased and from what Ive seen it looks incredibly intuitive. As for the other part, sending you a DM.

Hi, Mikaela! Im still somewhat starting my iOS journey. Im currently the sole iOS developer at my company and Im pretty much considered full stack (Vapor is my next venture). I love the place I work at, but I still havent decided if it will be my stopping point.

Hi Mikaela! Im pretty far along that journey that I started almost 12 years ago to the day. I find it so inspiring to see all those people from different background joining the community lately. Here to help whenever I can! Or be helped. The learning never stops!

Mikaela!!! Hello! I am currently a web developer. Im working on my wifes website for her new company. I also have a few more clients lined up. But after that Ill be starting IOS full force.

I have a bit of a background going back to the 80s-started out on a Texas Instruments Ti99 with a cassette tape drive. I went to college for a few semesters as CS major and then dumped in all because my grades were terrible and joined the army. Havent really coded since til now.

oooo this is a great idea!

I heard you mention that yesterday during your talk , I was giving some silent woot woots in chat. lol. I really like Chris teaching style.

Oh awesome! I keep my engagement to tweet about what Ive learned after a day of each ever since

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing definitely gonna check this out

Thank you
