Google fined 900,000 euro in Spain for privacy law violations

Search giant Google was fined a cool 900,000 euro fine in Spain after alleged violating privacy laws.Spain is not the only European country Google has troubles with though. Investigations in no less than six European countries where triggered after the search specialist revealed its controversial unified privacy policy about a year ago.
Spain might be the first of the Europeans to strike but certainly will not be the last.Google was fined a grand total of ‚¬900,000 for allegedly violating Spanish data protection laws though its controversial privacy policy.
According to the
Spanish Data Protection Agency,
Google has failed to explain properly why
it needs to collect personal information. And perhaps more important Google isn`t saying how long it needs to keep the information collected. Moreover Google doesn`t allow Spanish regulators enough control over who sees what.
Next in line to fine Google seems to be Holland and more countries are to follow, so the search giant better do something about that controversial unified privacy policy before it is too late.
