Canon releases much-awaited double-speed focusing EOS M2 mirrorless camera

Slowly but steadily the traditional SLR business is taken over from smartphones, tablets but also from the four thirds mirrorless camera standard, developed by Olympus and Kodak as an entirely digital system right from the start, rather than one adapted to digital.
Canon, the King of DSLRs, has finally given up last year and released its first ever mirrorless camera. The EOS M was a great camera, but the new EOS M2 is destined to do much better, having a number of significant improvements over its predecessor.
Canon announced today the new M2, which will be available in a few weeks. The new camera features auto-focus speeds over 2.3 times faster than the model it replaces.
Canon`s new Hybrid CMOS AF II system expands the focus window it monitors up to 80 percent of the total viewfinder. The system which was introduced for the first time with the release of Canon`s medium-priced 70d DSLR last summer, turned heads in the photo industry with its incredible perfomance and now starts to make its way into more products in the Japanese manufacturer range.
The EOS M2 APS-C sensor remains the same, but now the camera packs
WiFi connectivity for wireless sharing, in the same, largely unaltered, body.
The camera will retail
for 64,800 yen (about 465 euros) body only, or
84,800 yen (about 610 euros) with a kit lens.
It will come out later in December and is expected to make a big impact, since the
Hybrid CMOS AF II system is something that has to be experienced first hand to be truly believed...
