BitTorrent site Isohunt shuts down after lawsuit defeat

BitTorrent heaven Isohunt is ordered to shut down, after a lawsuit defeat in California.
The extremely popular Torrent search engine will have to shut down within a week, after coming in an settlement agreement with the MPAA. The decade old site
has agreed to both shut down and pay a $110 million in damages to the plaintiffs,
after a very long running copyright
infringement suit from a number of film companies.
Along with Isohunt,
Podtropolis, TorrentBox, and Edtk-it.com will have to shut down as well, as these domains redirect to Isohunt.
MPAA head Chris Dodd said the decision "sends a strong message that those who build businesses around encouraging, enabling, and helping others to commit copyright infringement are themselves infringers, and will be held accountable for their illegal actions."
Isohunt has been disputing over copyright infringement on a massive scale with the film industry since 2006.
The court in its decision determined that the Isohunt`s founder
Canadian

Gary Fung, was well aware of the piracy on his network, but did nothing to prevent it, but on the contrary helped users find copyrighted content...
