Band BossJanuary 6, 2013, 12:26 pm App: Band Boss Developer: Jack Herbert Rating 3.5/5 Price: $0.99 Device Used: iPod touch 3rd Gen http://appfinder.lisisoft.com/app/band-boss.html By Rico There is a real lack of genuine band management games on the iOS, on any platform for that matter, and so when I heard about Band Boss I found it difficult to control my excitement. The key gameplay elements were there, picking a band, choosing to record an album and touring the world. One of the more significant features of the game that adds a whole level of realism is the ability to choose between a small collection of real life artists, from acoustic singer song writers to prog rockers from Japan. When initiating Band Boss the options available to the player are very limited, with the game suggesting to gain minor popularity and acquiring currency by organising a tour, the game gives you options such as accommodation and travel costs, the more expensive the package the better rested the band will be and the performance will yield greater rewards. Touring is quite fun due to the customization options, you as the manager are able to choose where the tour is held, how long it`s for, ticket prices, support bands and more (with the developer promising an update full of brand new features and adjustments). Apart from the touring phase of the game there is the writing and the recording process which contributes greatly to gaining currency. I`ve had a lot of fun with Band Boss and it`s been a long time coming for a good band simulator game, there are a few complaints and unfortunately there are issues that really bring this game down. Getting your artist popular and topping the album charts is ridiculously easy, it can even be done with the release of the first album, once you`ve reached the top there isn`t much to do apart from tour and bring out more albums. I was hoping that there would be features like options to choose between labels, play festivals. For those who are interested in getting a Band simulator app then give Band Boss a shot, it`s a lot of fun and with the promise of an update in the not too distant future then it`ll definitely be a great game. |
