Amazon approaches HTC to build three new smartphones!October 17, 2013, 2:37 pm Amazon wants to enter the smartphone business. There is no doubt about it. The retail giant has seen the future and it is mobile. What we hear now though, is that Amazon has reportedly approached HTC to help it build three new smartphones. According to a new report by The Financial Times, Amazon will need HTC`s help, a former OEM for various carriers worldwide. Facebook has been an other partner for the Taiwanese maker recently, when the HTC First was born.Apparently the Amazon-HTC baby is already in "advanced" development according to The Financial Times` sources. While HTC hasn`t officially confirmed the Amazon collaboration, Ben Ho, HTC`s Chief Marketing Officer, said that HTC is very open to co-branding and collaborating with carriers and other technology brands. An Amazon-HTC collaboration makes a lot of sense, for both parties. HTC has proved with its Sense "skin" for its Android running devices that is able of designing beautiful and functional software over an operating system shell. Amazon needs some robust personalized software for its future line of smartphones and to help it push even more merchandise, having a loyal user base that could then be moving entirely inside the "Amazon Universe".On the other hand the Taiwanese maker could use Amazon`s customer recognition to help it boost its sales and compete better with the giants of the industry, most notable Apple and Samsung. We have already reported about Amazon working on some kind of eye-tracking technology for its future devices, so that could perhaps come soon into the marketplace in the form of an Amazon-HTC smartphone?... |
