Technically they both use the same CPU (The ARM9), but it`s clocked to 133MHz on the DSi while the normal DS/Lite ran it at 67MHz. Again basically nothing took advantage of it officially. With homebrew like TWiLightMenu you can force DS games to run at the DSi clockspeed though

For you it would be. Origins is better cause it`s NOT emulation. Or so I`ve been reading. It does need a patch or two to fix some things I noticed while playing. Those fixes are nothing game breaking though. And this was on my Nintendo Switch.

I still have all of them from the Genesis. Still have a model 2 but I usually play on my Mega Retron to avoid dragging an extension cable to the CRT. Still think the Headcannon remasters are the way to go though.

Get real This game is my OG, this was how I experienced the masterpiece that is S3&K, and even both S3 & S&K separately. Not to mention it has all the original music, something I still dont understand they couldnt do with Origins. I get MJs music rights but ya got it then but not now?

I couldnt get tails to carry sonic even when reading the instructions I liked the art it lets you see tho (and the menu music was perfect)
Not sure if it`s because I own it on a flashcart (had it on my ds years ago but gave it to a friend. I need to get a new copy) and I experience lag in the main game, not the blue sphere stages, in sonic 3. Again it could be the rom so I can`t say for sure.

Classic Collection is one of the few DSi Enhanced games that actually takes advantage of the faster CPU for better performance instead of only just the stupid camera. Playing on a 3DS gets DSi enhancements automatically so yeah it probably only slows down on a normal DS/DS Lite.
I mean for it to be the complete classic sonic collection...it kinda does need it.

the collection sound and looked horrible (graphics are unreasonably sharp) when its played. i remember its because sega used a homebrew emulator to run these games. which is freely available if you had an R4 or something similar. plus the presentation was just really cheap.

Never played this collection, but what I do know is that Sonic Origins has the the Christian Whitehead mobile remakes of 1 and 2, which are just better versions of the games. Plus the CW mobile version of CD which is absent from the collection.

Man, I remember this. Despite being an American, I happened to get the European version, meaning we couldn`t play it on my 3DS. Also, I had a cringy "Nega Sonic" Character which was just my gameplay of this game with a 3DS Camera Negative Effect, and a deepener of my voice

Sonic Origins is better since it has Blue Spheres mode, Boss Ruah, story mode, classic mode wwhre u could play the classic version, drop dash, a whole ass museum, soundtracks, people get to follow along with the story easier etc.

SEGA actually used some code from the jEnesisDS emulator (with permission actually, look it up) and you can kinda see why the DS struggles sometimes.

Yup. The games lagged somewhat on an OG DS. Iirc, it runs far better on DSi, and by extension, 3DS, due to the higher processing power. That being said, it`s still not perfect. The S3K special stages were really buggy and would jitter like crazy.
