After much research and deep convos with ppl farJanuary 24, 2021, 1:44 am After much research and deep convos with ppl far > clever than me, I`ve come to an opinion of why Hitman3 is a particularly difficult game to run on consoles (PS5 & XboxSeriesX). The difference in perf, goin from a 3070 to a 2060super, lies with 1 thing. Game design. See below Alex B from digital foundry doesn`t even know that PS5 is suspected by redgaming tech myself and other people to support Infinity cache which doubles bandwidth by 2.17x this is a lazy ps4 pro xbox one x port that was ported to the PS5 and series x not a next gen game at all I don`t see bandwidth and vram as limitations here i see a lazy port and developers as limitations because unlike PC console heavily depend on gaming developers to learn their hardware draw out their untapped power potential and features of their architecture Xbox series x has 10 GB Vram running at 560 GB/s dedicated to the GPU the other 6gb are 336 GB/s for the OS PS5 has no such constraints it can literally have 15 GB Vram depends on how much Sony need for their OS because PS5 doesn`t have slower Vram like Series X Here Alex left you a reply explaining this .. not sure if youve seen it Especially when you consider that without a disc drive its basically a 360 console, the big advantage the 3070 will have is with DLSS and ray tracing as AMD has no answer yet In this game both consoles are performing around the 2060S, being Series X`s +10% and PS5`s -5%. Compared to the 5700XT, which is the closest for both consoles to the 100%, Series X is +3% while PS5`s -7%, being both overperformed by the 2070S. I`ve read the post and for games like Watchdogs its below a 2060 Super, so this isn`t the only game. All I`m saying is that if this is the ballpark its still a great result for the price DF comparison was bad. We know 448 gb/s not enough for some moments, but thats doesnt mean peak perfomnce of PS5 = 2060S. Thats mean some effects work not so good. Peak perfomance around 2080 - 2080S. Sorry, my English is bad. I cant explain my opinion in detail. I have never seen someone try so hard to convince himself that his preferred console lagging behind the xsx is really just a game engine design and that it doesn`t mean anything, lol. I think you`re going to need to blame this one on your girl again... hahaha. Respect for learning more about how these things work, for the price of these consoles being in and around a 2060 super is still a great result and with clever optimisations we`re going to have great looking and playing games for a long time to come Have you heard of atom view? Guess who bought it? It`s not just in this idiotic game, you don`t understand what you read? All games after patches run better on XSX, including Valhalla and Dirt 5, reality is harsh but that is reality, there is no magic SSD, no magic sauce, XSX is much more powerful than Ps5. You just look for excuses to defend PS, all the games that have received patches have a better version in XSX, also the Microsoft console does not seem stressed as if it does Ps5. There is no magic sauce or magic SSD. Yeah. But in reality 1800p hitman3 plus amazing games and controller > 2160p with no games and last gen controller I`m going to play it on PS cause that`s all I game on, best place to play imo. 1800p is just fine for me, realistically its going to be hard to tell the diff, I haven`t watched the DF video so maybe it is. I do think they could get 4k out of the ps5. So hard to understand that XSX is more powerful than Ps5? It has better components and a superior architecture. If you like games then don`t act like a brand fanboy. Sure does. I vaguely remember an interview back then where the revealed the 2 limitations was requiring an SSD and the data would take up your storage very easily. Quixel(Unreal`s image scanning tech) actually uses point cloud data as its basis, which is how the UE5 demo was able to run(UE5 is a spiritual successor to this engine). I honestly think that Sony when designing the ps5 they weren`t trying to make the most powerful console or best multiplat box they wanted to make something special that their own devs could really take advantage of and make brand new games and experiences. Why and how does the cpu consume large amounts of bandwidth and how does he know it drops to 320gb exact? |
